Murphy's buddy Connor died last night.  He was only four and a half, and was the only male dog Murph really got along with.  She (and I) have known him since he was a little puppy (see the picture below).  What a friendly, sweet, goofy boy.

He grew up around two cats that were older than he was, and never seemed to notice that he'd grown up and outweighed them by a hundred pounds or so.

Murphy's a year older than Connor, and used to pick on him a bit when he was little.  I remember the first time he'd grown into his giraffe-like legs enough to outrun her.  They were both surprised, I think.  It took him a little longer to be able to take turns that fast, though.

I missed a chance to see Connor a couple of weeks ago, at a party at his house.  I'll miss the big guy, and I'm sure Murphy will, too.  He was a wonderfully-tempered, well-behaved, sweet, playful kid, and everyone that's known him for the four years he was with us is better for it.

Murphy is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever.  I decided on a Lab after a scary experience with another adopted dog that had been abused ... Labs are smart, loyal, and love to play.  Plus they're good with kids!  Murphy's no exception.  She also - like many Labs - loves to swim and when it's warm enough likes to sit in her pool:
She also loves catching frisbees and generally running around like a goofball.  Keep an eye out here for more pictures and sounds of Murphy and her friends!  Here's one:  Connor, the Great Dane.  Suffice it to say he's much bigger now!!
